Every price on this page comes from the brand's own public storefront catalog, read on one day. It answers the question a buyer at the expensive end actually has: will this go on sale, and if not, what is the cheapest legitimate way in.
The short version. We read the complete public catalogs of 30 premium desk, carry and phone-tech brands on 5 October 2026, 5,331 standard products in all. Eight of the 30 had no standard product listed below its compare-at price, so for those brands waiting for a sale is waiting for something the catalog does not show. Peak Design Mobile reduces prices only through bundles: 0 of its 58 single products were marked down and 132 bundles were. The deepest legitimate route into the expensive end is a returns shelf: Carl Friedrik lists 97 returned pieces at a median 33% below the compare-at price the brand lists on them.
Most premium brands in this category sell on Shopify, and a Shopify store publishes its whole product list, with every variant's price and its compare-at price, in a machine-readable form documented in Shopify, Product API reference. That means a price index does not have to rely on screenshots, affiliate feeds or memory. It can read what the brand itself publishes, for every product at once, on a known date.
The compare-at price is the field that matters here. In Shopify it is the higher "was" price a merchant shows struck through next to the current one (Shopify Help Center, setting sale prices (compare-at price)). Legally it is a claim: under the FTC, Guides Against Deceptive Pricing, a former price shown in a comparison should be one the item was actually offered at in good faith for a reasonable period (16 CFR 233.1, former price comparisons). We report compare-at prices as the brand's own claim. We did not check whether any brand actually sold at the higher price.
Medians are taken over standard products only: no bundles, no returns, no gift cards, spare parts or shipping protection. Oakywood prices in EUR and Harber London prices in GBP, so they are listed separately below rather than drawn against dollars.
Bar length is proportional to the median standard product price on a scale of $0 to $600. A brand that sells many small accessories reads lower than one that sells mostly bags, so read this as the price of a typical item in the catalog, not of the flagship.

A zero is a finding, not a gap: it means every single product was at its full listed price. At the other end, Keychron had 45% of its catalog marked down, at a median of 26% off the compare-at price.
Bar length is the percentage of standard products with at least one variant below its compare-at price, on a scale of 0 to 100%. The figure after the bar is that share, then the median depth of those markdowns.

Sandmarc0%When we first read these catalogs, two brands looked like they were running enormous sales. They were not. Peak Design Mobile's reductions were bundles priced under the sum of their parts, and Carl Friedrik's deepest "sale" items were returned pieces with "Return" in the product name. Counting either as a markdown would have overstated how much of this category is on sale, so every discounted product in the index is now sorted into one of three routes.
Each segment's width is its share of the 1,305 listings that sat below a compare-at price or were sold as returns on 5 October 2026.
Peak Design Mobile, Harber London, Tom Bihn, Leuchtturm1917, Craighill, mophie, Sandmarc and Killspencer had no standard product below its compare-at price on 5 October 2026. For a buyer, that changes the decision. If a brand does not mark down its catalog, the price you see is the price, and the reasons to wait are a new colour or a gift, not a discount. Peak Design Mobile is a special case: the single items held price and the only reductions were on bundles.
4 brands list returned or open-box stock alongside new: Carl Friedrik (97 listed, median 33% below the compare-at price the brand lists on them), Oakywood (15 listed, median 25% below the compare-at price the brand lists on them, priced in EUR), Moment (15 listed, median 17% below the compare-at price the brand lists on them) and Ugmonk (11 listed, median 53% below the compare-at price the brand lists on them). This is the route most buyers never look for, because it does not appear as a sale. On Carl Friedrik's catalog the returned pieces carry the word "Return" in the product name, are priced below the compare-at price the brand lists on them, and sit in the same store as the new stock. If you want a specific expensive piece and do not need it boxed, check the brand's own returns before waiting for a markdown that the catalog suggests may not come.
Keychron (45% of the catalog, median 26% off), Moment (41% of the catalog, median 50% off), Native Union (39% of the catalog, median 30% off), Baseus (38% of the catalog, median 27% off), Ekster (38% of the catalog, median 30% off) and Incase (34% of the catalog, median 38% off) had the largest share of their catalogs below a compare-at price. Two cautions apply. A compare-at price is the brand's statement of a former price, and we have one day of data, so we cannot yet say whether these are seasonal events or a standing "was" price. The index re-reads every catalog weekly, and from the second edition onward it will show which markdowns move and which never do.
Medians and ranges are in the brand's own currency. "Middle half" is the range from the 25th to the 75th percentile of standard product prices.

On 5 October 2026, Peak Design Mobile, Harber London, Tom Bihn, Leuchtturm1917, Craighill, mophie, Sandmarc and Killspencer had no standard product below its compare-at price. "Never" needs more than one day of data, and the index will show which of them stay at zero as weekly editions accumulate.
It is the brand's claim. FTC guidance on former price comparisons says the higher price should be one the item was genuinely offered at for a reasonable period. This index reports compare-at prices as published and does not verify them.
Every brand's catalog is re-read weekly. From the second edition, the index records new products, price changes and removals between readings.
